“Wynne Cannot Continue McGuinty’s Legacy of Failure” – MPP McDonell

February 8, 2013

CORNWALL – Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry MPP Jim McDonell was disappointed to read the latest release from Statistics Canada, which showed 43,000 jobs lost in Ontario’s private sector in the month of January. MPP McDonell states: “I am very concerned by the incoming Premier’s repeated statement that she intends to continue the McGuinty legacy, which includes having an unemployment rate higher than the national average for more than 73 consecutive months. McGuinty has also doubled the provincial debt, raised electricity rates to the highest in North America and brought in the highest tax increases in the province’s history”.

MPP McDonell highlighted that the Ontario PC Caucus has a clear vision of a new track for Ontario: “The Ontario PC Caucus has released ten White Papers, titled “Paths to Prosperity”, with more to come in the next weeks, outlining a new approach that will spur investment and job creation, as well as put our public services on a path to financial sustainability. The Government needs to abandon its failed tax-and-spend policies that have driven the economic engine of Canada into this fiscal ditch. We owe it to the people of Ontario, including the unemployed and the struggling Ontarians trying to provide for their families, to make our Province prosperous again”.
