Government Awards More Unneeded Power Contracts

September 25, 2017

QUEEN’S PARK – The Ontario Government recently offered more than 390 new Feed-in-Tariff energy contracts, despite repeated admissions by senior Government members that these deals have been bad for Ontario.

“We don’t need this power, yet the Liberals continue to buy more and more of it at prices far exceeding the market rate for electricity and certainly exceeding the cost of producing power at our existing nuclear plants or hydro dams,” MPP Jim McDonell stated. “They say one thing and do the complete opposite, and it costs electricity users dearly. If the Energy Minister admits that green energy contracts have been bad for the Province, his government must freeze all large renewable projects and stop entering into more unaffordable deals. It is time for the Wynne government to put Ontario families first and their green energy donor friends last”.
